Watering

Watering

Water once a week or when the top layer of soil begins to get a little dry. Always keep the soil slightly damp, but avoid overwatering as this can lead to brown blotches and falling leaves. The plant is dry and need watering, as indicated by curly or parched leaves. Water at the cooler hours of the day, such as the early morning or late evening. Prior to watering, inspect your soil every time.
fertilizer

Brightness

Peperomias grow more slowly in lower light levels, but they can withstand it in bright, filtered light.

Humidity and water

Overwatering peperomias is not to be preferred. The robust, meaty leaves of this cultivar show that they can withstand drought. When Pip receives another irrigation, he prefers that the soil be at least two to three centimeters dry. You may get by with average humidity as long as you stay away from hot dry heaters and chilly drafts.

Consuming

Feed a sachet of organic canola meal once a month during the summer. In the winter, don't feed.

Repetting

Peperomias prefer to live in pots, so the only true need for repotting is a springtime soil refresh. Only increase the pot size by one if you want a larger plant.

Atrium Best Advice

Look out for symptoms of overwatering, such as decaying stalks and drooping or yellowing foliage. Pruning peperomias is a particularly good way to keep them looking bushy and compact.

Strange plant fact

With almost 1,000 species, peperomias belong to the Piperaceae family. The most well-known species is Piper nigrum, the black peppercorn vine, from which pepper is harvested!
