Asteraceae is a family of flowering plants, and the genus Gynura is native to Asia. The most well-known species is Gynura aurantiaca, which is frequently grown indoors. The velvety purple leaves of this plant have earned it the nickname "purple passion". Growing Gynura aurantiaca, or purple passion houseplants, provides an eye-catching and unique houseplant for the well-lit interior space. The juvenile purple passion plant is ideal for an indoor hanging basket because of its velvety leaves, dense, deep purple hairs on green foliage, and cascading habit. For over 200 years, purple passion houseplants have been utilized as interior décor.
Don't let direct sunlight reach the leaves of the purple passion plant; instead, place it in bright to moderate light. The purple tint of the purple passion plant is enhanced by brighter light. The ideal temperature range for purple passion houseplants is between 60 and 70 F (16 and 21 C). Purple passion houseplants appreciate a chilly environment. Avoid letting the roots stand in damp soil; instead, keep the soil moist. The foliage should not be wetted since the hairy leaves can retain moisture and start to decay. Orange flowers can be produced by purple passion houseplants, but they have a disagreeable smell.
A lot of gardeners remove the buds in order to avoid the odorous blossoms. When the plant produces flowers, it is mature; if you haven't already, start taking cuttings. As part of your velvet plant care, fertilize every two weeks from spring through October. In the winter, fertilize once a month.
