The Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree (Ficus lyrata), which is native to the rainforests of western and central Africa, is a gorgeous plant with enormous green leaves and a devoted fan base of houseplants. It's not the easiest houseplant to maintain, despite its widespread appeal, but when given the right circumstances and attention, it can have an unparalleled visual impact on a room.

The Fiddle Leaf Fig requires plenty of sunshine, a moderate amount of water, and a warm, humid atmosphere. Select a spot where the tree will get lots of brilliant ambient light, away from air vents and drafts. Because it is native to a region of the world that experiences extreme dry spells in between rainstorms, the Fiddle Leaf Fig like its soil to be kept continuously and uniformly moist, with a short drying out interval in between waterings. After the top 2 inches of soil have dried, give it a good watering.

Checking the soil frequently until you establish a pattern with your plant is important since allowing it to dry out more than a few inches can result in leaf loss. On the other hand, excessive moisture in the soil can induce leaf drop as well as root rot. To keep your tree tall and straight, rotate it once a month. Particularly fiddle leaf figs enjoy reaching toward the light, so if you don't rotate them over time, you'll see that they eventually bend.
